I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this unit. I bought it as an alternative to the Magnavox which I just sent back and has not played DVDs or CDs. It plays DVDs, commercial CDs, and CD-RWs of music I've recorded. The sound quality and sound through the device's speakers are very good. I take it outside to listen to the CDs. I agree with the comments of other reviewers that when playing a DVD the audio doesn't come out as loud as I would like. But the volume plays at a good level for CDs. I wanted this unit primarily as a solution for my new car without a CD player. I play through the aux input and the audio comes through the Pioneer car system in good quality with no hiss or weird hum. I haven't encountered skipping while playing while driving. But I'm not an SUV. Some people commented that this shouldn't be called an 11.5 inch DVD player because the screen isn't that big. I agree, although the product description says 11.5 inches. - the diagonal size of the block. It is 9 inches wide diagonally, 7 3/4 inches wide, and 4 1/2 inches high. You don't have to read the fine print to find out. I suggest that the seller relabel this item to avoid disappointed customers and returns.
