Don't risk your boat, buy something better!

This float switch is supposed to last ten million cycles. I used it as a switch in a fountain. In testing, I found that it sometimes stays in the raised (on) position, so I taped a fishing float to it to give it weight and buoyancy. It worked great. It worked reliably for about four months, running about 45 times a day, so it opened and closed maybe 4,500 to 5,000 times. That's MUCH less than ten million! It then stuck in the "on" position even though it fell into the "off" position and when I found that out the pump was damaged. The switch just hung up and down, there was no water in it, maybe the spring broke. It was totally useless. This set off a series of events that led to my Tourette's showing up once or twice. A brand new replacement pump failed etc etc. Now I have installed 2 new pumps, a new hose, a new check valve and a marine float switch which has a large ball bearing inside. If the switch floats, the bearing rolls down and closes the contacts; if the level drops, the float falls with it, the ball bearing rolls away and releases the contacts. It works like a champ! Stay away from him, you will lose your boat if you rely on him for a while.
