Great as a dog bucket seat, helps keep the car seat clean and creates a barrier the dog can't stay in...but it doesn't fit the bottom of actual folded car seats. I have a Honda Accord and it didn't fit at all. Luckily, the sides and top just wrap around the back of the seat. As for dog safety, I wouldn't count on it. The sides are padded and the seatbelt latch doesn't feel thick or strong enough to withstand an impact. I would still suggest checking car seat belts with seat belts. On top of that, I do what I have to do, protect my car from being scratched by a 40-pound dog and prevent him from trying to climb from one seat to another.
