Soft and beautiful. But strong chemical smell on the material

I love how soft and beautiful this hammock is! Seriously so soft! Prettier/stronger hooks can be used. But what made me write a review. Odor! Terrible smell right out of the box. Like a very strong chemical or burnt rubber. It was so strong that we washed it and immediately hung it out to air. The smell is gone but I'm very surprised no one else mentioned it as it was bad.
