great quality (thick, but not too thick) does not affect the closing of the laptop. I made the mistake of thinking the cutout on the palm rest was the trackpad protector. needless to say it was too large and did not fit which led me to find the actual track pad protector hiding in the packaging! Other than that went on very smoothly and have no complaints about functionality. strongly recommend. only slight complaint is that the color does NOT match the color of the macbook and is actually a bit darker (solely a cosmetic thing)
