I don't know where this product could be widely available except Japan. Haven't come across an average hotel that has Wi-Fi yet. All hotels seem to have an ethernet cable system that cannot be used with tablet computers. This pocket router worked flawlessly with my iPad. Just plug your router's power adapter and hotel Ethernet cable into your router and you're good to go. I would highly recommend setting up your router at home before traveling. There are two parts to setup, the first part is to connect the router's Ethernet cable to a laptop or computer if it has an Ethernet port. In the second step, connect the D-Link Ethernet cable to your home router. I was still having trouble figuring out how to set this up, but a quick call to D-Link got it working. However, I was never able to get the password part to work. I wasn't too worried about that as the transmission range isn't beyond that of an average hotel room. I also used a netbook in Japan and have always had trouble connecting to the internet with a hotel ethernet cable in the past. This wasn't necessary with this D-Link router as it connected to that router's Wi-Fi system with ease. Small and comes in a nice case. For me it was money very well spent. However, I have never come across a hotel in the US that only had an ethernet cable system. I would say that all hotels in the US have wifi. Surprisingly, there is almost no WiFi in Japan. I heard Starbucks has wi-fi but I haven't tried their wi-fi. However, this pocket router can be used to set up a second WiFi system in your home. I don't know of any other countries that use ethernet wiring in hotels, but I'm sure there are. If there are other countries, I would like to know where I need this pocket router.
