When used in a 2" receiver the stand is VERY wobbly. I tried putting duct tape around the clutch to fill in some of the gaps and reduce the movement, but it was a very temporary and not very successful trick. I bought this hitch specifically for security reasons (I couldn't believe there weren't any more struts with locks built in). I loved the lock but shortly after I started using the trunk my bike blew away at 65mph on the freeway! This of course broke the lock (not to mention my bike) making it unusable. The only reason I can think of as to why the bike flew away was that the rubber straps that hold the bike in place tend to 1) not secure the bike securely enough and 2) break after a few uses. As far as I know, you cannot order replacement straps from Rola, which makes the stand almost useless. Another problem was the fact that the pedestals on which the bike stands scratch the bike frame. The only way I can think of to mitigate this is to wipe down the frame after every ride to remove sand/dirt and/or cover the carry bag with a cloth - who has time for that? Having had a stand for almost 2 years, I've had enough and am looking for a nicer/stander. I would recommend this shelf to people on a budget who only want to use it around town.
