Working. Made of plastic. But it's durable and thick plastic, won't break. The rubber on the back of the extension protects the paint on the wall. However, if the gate is fully tightened and in place and you need to move or slide the gate back into place, I would recommend loosening everything, moving the gate and then retightening rather than sliding the gate into place or to push. because the rubber has some protrusions to make sure it grips tight and stays in place which can cause the paint to peel off the wall. I used it to close a gap with a child and pet gate (Regalo brand) on the stairs. Holds the gate firmly and in place. would recommend.
