I'm sorry I ignored the negative reviews about this strainer and bought it for my daughter. I have a Cuisinart stainless steel strainer over my sink and have been using it for 2 1/2 years and love mine. It cleans and works great. Very durable. No sharp edges, no gaps. So I don't understand the bad reviews. Well, apparently a genius at Cuisinart changed the design. It has very sharp edges, gaps where food can get stuck and bacteria can multiply. Very disappointed. return as soon as possible. Someone needs to explain the principle "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" to Quizinart. You turned an awesome sieve into a piece of junk. By the way, after searching the internet, I found the same 7 liter strainer for $24.99. I went to the store and bought it. So some of the good ones are still there.
