Good but tricky for extension cords

This tricky product. I even returned one. I finally read a review that helped me program the timer bar. Basically 2 rows of sockets - one with time, the other without time. I pulled the plastic tab on the back to start the watch battery. The clock is programmed with hours day-hour-minute (am/pm). So far, so good. 7 different stops and stops can then be programmed. Seems exaggerated. I just wanted the cable box to turn off at 11pm and turn on at 6am. So I pressed Prog for program 1. Then press the Day button until all 7 days appear. The pressed hour will turn on at 6am and turn off at 11pm. One program and you're done. Now the regime is also delicate. Has auto, off and on. I tuned in the band around 10am when everything was set up and I set the mode to automatic. Connected, turned on the red power button. Nothing has happened. No energy. Set mode to "On" - it worked. Off also worked. An automatic simply lacks the power. Here's the trick. Return to the 1 ON time program and set it for a few minutes from now. Let's say 10:15. The extension cord then opens the circuit in AUTO mode. power has come. Go back to Prog 1 time On and set it back to 6am. Now it works regularly. The instructions didn't help much. Much luck.
