All the ram mounts I've bought in the past have been aluminum but this one is PLASTIC. The ball clamp levers on each end do NOT have normal spring loading like all other levers I've purchased. The clamping levers on either end are numbered on the center connector, with an octagonal configuration on the center connector corresponding to the female eight. bilateral configuration, four on each side of each hand. Slightly loosening the arm tension knob will prevent the arm mounted device from rotating. The cocking knob must be released abruptly in order to rotate the lever, with the possibility that a device attached to this lever with a ball mount, such as a B. a video camera is lost. I wanted to use this swing arm to hold a video camera on a motorcycle handlebar with the ability to loosen the top grip enough to rotate the camera up to 90 degrees to either side, but the octagonal indexing of the arm connector prevents that rotation without the possibility of losing the camera on the ball connecting the top of the arm. Turning the eight-way male connector on the lathe to bring the corners of the eight sides into a perfect circle allowed the upper arm to be rotated with just a slight loosening of the knob, with no possibility of the connected one losing device.
