Review on Enhanced Repto Sand 🦎 Litter Scoop by Zoo Med by Shannon Smith

Some pros and cons, but ultimately a great scoop!

I bought this to rid my leopard gecko's ground walnut substrate of nausea (feces, blisters, dead mealworms/crickets). There was only one photo online and it didn't show how big and deep it was. I was hoping for something that tapers towards the end (like the more expensive ones at PetSmart) so I can leave the Enzo skins in place while cleaning. I ended up having to remove all of the accessories from his terrarium to clean him up and put him in a safe box. BUT despite my small complaints about the shape of this shovel, I really like it. He scooped up a huge amount of sand, sifted it, and effectively cleaned it of all the dirt (even dead mealworms that somehow got out of their plate and burrowed into the sand). I had to shake it slightly to sift all the substrate so it takes more work than expected but I'm fine with that. This gives me a less messy and clean substrate (bedding made from crushed walnut shells is very expensive!) To recap: PROS: - Picks up a lot of sand or sand like substrate which is great when you have a big mess or you like to sift through the sand so that the fresher sand is evenly distributed. -Finely sifts the sand, leaving only nasty stuff in the scoop and clean sand in the terrarium.-It's made of thick and durable metal that seems to last a long time (may rust if not dry) CONS: - Shape looks more like a bucket than a shovel (it doesn't have a pointed end like regular shovels) *only a minus in my opinion and still poor aesthetics* - Had to remove ALL terrarium decorations and geckos to adequately scoop *again , not a big deal if you're short on time* Overall I really like this scoop so far. I've had it recently so I'll update if I continue. This makes cleaning Enzo's terrarium much easier and keeps the sand's lifespan much longer (especially when it's very expensive)! I hope this helps future buyers with their decision!
