Upgraded my 1988 Mustang 5.0 to this starter and am very pleased with the results. The torque is much higher than the original. It turned instantly and all I had to do was run the release cable to the starter solenoid with 12 gauge copper wire (researching how this starter works on old fox bodies) and yes it works for both 5 speed and for car . Don't spend twice as much on the same starter when it comes to performance or conversions like this one, tested to 16Nm of torque (or so the test paper that comes with it says). Save your money on new tires and gas.
