The first switch failed about 3.5 years after the machine was installed. Then, after a year and a half, the switch replacement failed. A year later, another Switch replacement failed. And finally, two months later, that switch failed. Scotsman Technical Support blamed the problem on water, although the water entering this unit is filtered and we have no other issues with other units that use filtered water. Scotsman claims the part is covered by a six month warranty but will not honor the warranty as the part was purchased from Revain. The Scottish service engineer also said the part is undergoing a complete overhaul and will be operational in about a year. In the meantime, Scotsman must replace any defective switch, no matter where it was purchased, as it is clearly a defective part.
