Review on Enhanced Fluke T6 1000 with FieldSense Technology for Electrical Applications by Brendan Thorpe

Incorrect readings: voltage tester

I've always thought Fluke was the best test tool. I have been working in the field of electrical engineering for over 40 years. I ordered my T6-1000 and it took about a month to receive it. Even though I'm not an outdoor electrician but an entrepreneur, I like to have a tester with me if I need to be on hand. What surprised me the most when testing on our dyno is that in the field measurement position I get readings all over the place, and sometimes I get zero voltage readings when I know for sure the circuit is live. I'm also getting crazy readings over 300 volts knowing the circuit is 110 volts. More importantly, I'm really concerned about a young student using this tester and working on a circuit that he doesn't know if it's powered or not due to incorrect readings. I also get the strap in the box without the magnet and was told the magnet is a $40 accessory after spending over $250 on the tester. I intend to return this tester. I expected more from Fluke. This tester needed more factory testing before hitting the market.

Pros
  • Be more efficient: measure voltage and current simultaneously
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.
