Review on VGA Extender Repeater Transmitter Receiver by Douglas Jakab

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Update: just died/easiest/cheapest way to extend VGA.

Update: While this extender has worked great in the past, it just died for me. I didn't even get a year of it, by 5 days. The image disappeared completely, and then suddenly returned. It was like a blink and when it turned off the monitor acted like I had no signal. I connected a very short cable to it, but the flicker was still there. I checked the monitor directly on the computer, no problems were found. I checked both VGA cables and found no problems either. The power source for the transceiver appears to be fine and the devices turn on. While I really liked this expansion, it only failed in less than a year, which is a disappointment. Downgraded from 5 to 2 because the product just didn't last long.-------------------------- This is my first time trying these VGAs with Cat5e/ 6 cables seen on Wish but the delivery time was 3 months or more. I was very happy that Revain picked up this product and although Revain missed the next day delivery I had the next day extension. Hooking it up is very easy - you need a standard Cat5e/6 Ethernet cable (I use Cat5e) and two VGA cables. There is a transmitter and receiver unit and two power packs. Connect the transmitter to your computer with a VGA cable. Connect the receiver to another VGA cable and to a monitor. Also, connect the power supplies with the Ethernet cable from the transmitter to the receiver. That's all. Image quality is very good (don't think it's gaming, but more than enough for reading text in a word doc or watching security cameras (which is what I wanted). My security surveillance computer is in another room, and i wanted to put the monitor in another part of the house when i spend most of my time on it it's a video signal from the computer's video card not a digital signal there is no lag or lag don't think it is will extend your video over ethernet, that's not what it's for. Basically, you can use an ethernet cable with the transceiver instead of a vga cable. For the price, it's a great device to stream video from a computer with a Sending ethernet cable to another room, note that if you do not take picture, replace ethernet cable, most likely it is a crossover cable and not an S standard cable. If the device lasts I'm very happy and it's worth the purchase price (Kat Oraya was reasonable anyway).

Pros
