Review on πŸ”΄ Xitomer CNC Aluminum Billet Fuel Tank Cap - Compatible with ZX-6R ZX636, Ninja ZX-10R, KLE650, KLZ1000, ZX-14R ZZR1400 - Red Gas Cover by Kevin Williams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Updated rating. NO ventilation system!

I just installed this gas cap on my 2015 Ninja ZX6r and it looks amazing! The fit was perfect, the included hardware is completely flush with the top of the cap, and while the metallic green is a little different from my standard 'Cawi green', it still complements the bike well. The hole you stick your fuel injector in at a gas station is a lot smaller/tighter than the OEM, but that should work better as it doesn't allow for as much splatter if you crank the pump up to full blast and forget to come back. it cuts off a bit as it nears the full mark (yes, I speak from experience). I was a bit skeptical about the looks and functionality as it only needs 3 screws and was a different green color but when I saw it on the bike my doubts were quickly dispelled. It's solid and looks well designed/built. If you're considering ordering this one, just know that a #4 hex wrench is required to remove the ZX6r's factory gas cap and that cap uses a #3 hex wrench, but any motorcycle owner who knows their stuff should already have one in their garage. Also note that this device has NO LOCKING MECHANISM! If you live in an apartment building, on a busy city street, or some other place where your bike is accessible to all passers-by, you should know that it will be very easy for someone to quickly dump your gas and leave , before you even notice it . what's happening. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because it literally sat on my bike for about 5 minutes. Who knows what it will look like in 6 months. I think I can update my rating if things change for the worse. PS PLEASE make sure you have something to attach to the tank filler neck after removing the factory cap! You definitely don't want to accidentally drop a screw, spring or grommet into the gas tank when shifting gears, especially when your tank is full! Update (September 10, 2019): This thing has NO ventilation! When your engine draws in fuel, it creates a vacuum. This cover cannot reduce this suction pressure. So when you remove it, the sudden influx of air into the tank will cause the fuel to slosh back out. If you don't want to unscrew the tank cap every 5-10 minutes while driving to relieve the pressure, you should definitely look elsewhere!
