A good visual deterrent probably won't really stop them
This fence is enough to make my 93 lb American man think he can't get through. I use it as a temporary barrier on my back porch and attach it to a secure post on my real fence with a small chain and/or stiff twine. Inside the house, I usually don't even have to tie him down to convince him to stay on the other side. But I would recommend using it under supervision because it doesn't stop him from going through it or going through it if he ever sees something he really wanted on the other side.
