I could be wrong but I thought most laptops have a kensington slot and the lock comes with a set opposite jaws used fixed on the laptop. I've had three locks in the past that worked this way and they were compatible with all my laptops. I probably didn't explain it clearly, but the jaws usually work like tics and lock by opening rather than closing. In each case, this particular lock works differently and requires you to insert a "T" shaped metal tab into the slot and rotate it 90 degrees. The problem is, that I've tried this on a couple of Gateway and Acer laptops and they didn't have enough room in the lock slot. rotated 90 degrees. That way the lock won't lock my laptop. As I said, I don't know how many laptops allow 90 degree rotation, maybe I'm in the minority. But it didn't work for me and let me down at the show.
