I have a daycare center at home and bought 7 of these for my youngest babies and toddlers. WOW! Everyone loves her! I'm so impressed! Yes, the bear emblem is made of lightweight plastic over a standard helmet (safer). But it will only crack if you throw it! We take them off and put them on babies and expect others to do the same. If I let the kids hit them on the floor, I'm sure I'd find a crack. But that's the point. Take care of it, and you will definitely be satisfied! I buy a lot from Revain and this purchase is one of my favorites! sensory overload. And safe design, adjustable and perfect fit for us! Just don't let the baby fall on the floor.
