Review on πŸ“Ά Kiwee Broadband MoCA 2.5 Ethernet Over Coaxial Adapter (KB-M3-02L) - Set of 2 with 2 Gigabit Ethernet Ports by Kyle Awasthi

Near linear speed on 1Gbps links

This is a great option if your cabling is fine, some tweaking may be needed. But take your cables, their plugs are rubbish. which is not particularly important. I need decent network speed for remote software development. I often upload gigabytes of work or need to pull large datasets from production servers over VPN. The company had invested heavily in providing bandwidth, and the 30 Mbps I was able to get over Wi-Fi wasn't to my liking. I tried powerline adapters because it seemed like the easy way. I got less than 40Mbps even though they are rated for gigabit bandwidth. So a friend suggested MoCA. I've researched the topic and looked at some reviews. MoCA 2.5 was just released in winter 2020/2021 with just a few new adapters. General reviews generally do not cover 2.5. My first attempt failed. The first problem was that although there are wires in the house, they weren't all marked or connected. So. With the Klein COAX tracer/tester I was able to identify the lines. After everything was connected, I was able to connect the MoCA boxes. No connection. After carefully examining the tangle of wires, I found that there were several splinters along the way, and some of them I couldn't identify. I only needed two connections to the living room and the office. With the extra splinters gone, I got the connection I was hoping for. I now have a MoCA input filter connected to an existing 12dB amp and splitter. In my living room I have a MoCA 2.5 splitter with a Comcast cable modem on one leg and a MoCA adapter on the other. Is it working fine? About as good as one can hope or ask for. I got 720 Mbps using a wired ethernet connection with a cable modem/router. I ran the speed test three times in the office and got 690, 700 and 710 Mbit/s. I have a NAS box connected to a 1Gb/s wired router, so I check throughput by copying all my movies from there to a local drive. Top speeds are close to 1Gbps and slightly below on average. If that doesn't work, I think these MoCA adapters work as well as you can hope for.
