This sisal rug is exactly as described. but I knew what to expect. NATURAL FIBERS OF HANDCRAFT - organic materials: there are defects and abrasions; it may initially have a natural grassy/woody smell and there will be dirt in it; it's bumpy and lumpy. In fact, it is a dry grass or stalk. These things are reasons to love sisal rugs. If you don't like it, don't buy this rug. Nice and organic and not for everyone. If you need a soft pile - do not order. If you have sensitive feet, don't order. If you are picky, don't order. And for goodness sake, use a carpet underlay if you have hardwood floors. Thus, this carpet has everything that should be contained in a sisal carpet. It has good thickness and wonderful color variations. The end tassel looks like yarn, also made of natural fiber. Beautifully made for anyone who appreciates sisal.
