Initially I really liked these bins. We got a lot of compliments and "where did you get that from?" We bought 2 of these. One for recycling and one for trash. Unfortunately, there is a major design flaw. The battery compartment is not fixed very well so after only 2 months of use the first bin mysteriously stopped working. By the time we found out the battery cover had come loose, it was already too late. The lid was in a landfill somewhere. I've tried duck tape and thought of all sorts of ways to keep the batteries inside but they end up in the trash. be electronic. Unfortunately, after about 6 months, another trash can also lost its battery cover, although I tried to deal with it diligently. So now it's lying in the garage because it's not easy to open it manually. Very disappointing.
