As others have said, this glass is not durable. Bench broken after 11 months of short use. Terrible design with plastic as the main stress point on the hinge. The pitcher was little used, never cursed, there were no children in the house. One day everything worked perfectly, the next morning the lid wouldn't close and the plastic part on the hinge broke. Initially I really liked these bins. We got a lot of compliments and "where did you get that from?" We bought 2 of these. One for recycling and one for trash. Unfortunately, there is a major design flaw. The battery compartment is not fixed very well so after only 2 months of use the first bin mysteriously stopped working.
