Great Sound on CD and Cassette Players

Great Sound. I can't believe this far beat my $2500 Mark Levinson/Proceed Transport. Although it's old, this vehicle was rebuilt eight years ago with a new CD drive for only $850, so it was a good comparison. A friend of mine told me that Audiolab beat multi-kilogram transports in sound quality and now I believe him. My whole system has gone up several levels. Deeper, faster bass, greater transparency and detail, and vastly improved overall clarity. It also looks a bit more dynamic. And these are not subtle differences either. Of course, you'll need a quality DAC to hear its full potential (using the Benchmark Dac2 on a $35,000 system). Please note that it takes about 30 hours of work with a CD playing vehicle before all the improvements are visible. Improved detail and clarity are initially apparent, but the bass is a bit muffled and the sound is a bit more subtle. But all this changes after a glitch and it's like a different and improved unit. The sound is fully developed in every respect and everything is improved. I didn't think I would either, but I really like the recessed CD inlet. Faster, stronger, better overall. Reminds me of those car CD players. The device is heavy, externally well made and beautiful. However, the cost savings are significant thanks to the small display. The button labels are small and almost illegible, and there are extra buttons on the remote and it's not very logical. But because of the incredible sound and the very reasonable price, all is forgiven.
