So Far So Good in CD Players

So far so good. I connected it to two different DACs. It is connected to my Schiit Modi 3 with AKM chip via an optical cable. It is connected to my Parasound P6 preamp, which uses an ESS Saber chip, via a BlueJean coaxial cable. The results were excellent. Edit: Changed Shia Modi 3 to Gungnir MB, notable improvement!

Great CD Transport

This is a transport at a great price. I doubted it but bought it based on the good reviews. This is a really good mode of transport in its price range. I can't compare it to the more expensive Transport, but I did compare the sound quality between the Transport and an Auralic Aries Streamer, both connected to an Auralic Vega DAC. The 6000CDT sounds more organic and dynamic. A minor complaint is that the extraction feature is a bit finicky. The eject button must be pressed once briefly. If you…

Sounds better than the DVD player it replaced

I have the Sony DVD carousel in my system connected to the DAC in my Sprout 100 via Toslink. Sony has gotten very insecure with discs, so it's time to replace them. Knowing I was going to feed the DAC and read the reviews, the Audiolab 6000CDT stood out. I put a 6000 CDT in the system and was surprised that with the same Toslink to the same DAC/amp which sounded much cleaner and had much more bass I had to cut out the subwoofer (I only run it to enhance the sound add to). . bottom ends of the…

This is a CD transporter, not a CD player

This is a CD transporter. That means it doesn't have a built-in DAC. If you try to insert and play a CD while this unit is not connected to the DAC, there will be no sound. Well, since it isn't, it's a very good block. It is very durable in its construction and very quiet. The remote takes a little getting used to (it has a firm press on the buttons), but once you get used to it, it works really well. This device doesn't have its own sound, that's the point. Its only job is to read CDs at the…

Great Sound on CD and Cassette Players

Great Sound. I can't believe this far beat my $2500 Mark Levinson/Proceed Transport. Although it's old, this vehicle was rebuilt eight years ago with a new CD drive for only $850, so it was a good comparison. A friend of mine told me that Audiolab beat multi-kilogram transports in sound quality and now I believe him. My whole system has gone up several levels. Deeper, faster bass, greater transparency and detail, and vastly improved overall clarity. It also looks a bit more dynamic. And these…
