Review on Hermle RAVENSBURG Weight Driven Wall Clock 70974000711, Wrought Iron by Jim Linquist

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Awesome clock. on my review.

I've always wanted a mechanical clock since I was a child. I've looked at grandfather clocks on and off over my adult life but have never wanted to spend the money on one. I stumbled across this clock while I was looking for a new wall clock to put in my man cave and decided that if I was ever going to get a mechanical clock then this will be the one. I really like the look, feel and sound of it. It is very solid and except for the porcelain face is all metal. It did take me about a month of tinkering with it to get the time keeping very close to accurate. I got it to about 15 seconds a week slow which is close enough for me. The tick tock is fairly loud when compared to regular cheap wall clocks. At first the tick tock bothered me when I was watching movies or TV so I would stop the clock while watching TV. After a few months I don't even notice the tick tock anymore while watching TV so I don't stop it anymore. At first it was hard to see where the hands was on the clock from my chair but also after a few months I can now see where they are at. It is a very nice clock. It just takes some time to set and get used to.

Pros
  • Wrought-iron, visible escapement, dimensions: 25 x 6 x 4 in. 3-Year Manufacturer warranty
Cons
  • The clock mechanism may be too loud to place in a bedroom
