I've been a Panavise fan for over 30 years when I owned an electronics repair shop. When we closed the deal we liquidated a lot of instruments, Panavise was one of them. I got the opportunity to get back into electronics repair and am slowly building up my workshop. One of the differences is that the old Panavise had two levers supporting the board on the edge. This is great for stabilizing your stock, but it limited us to boards under 11 inches wide. While these vises aren't as sturdy, they still work well enough to keep the job going and don't limit the size of your board. Also, I can hold items other than circuit boards. The suction cup is very strong (as long as your workbench surface is smooth) and won't move an inch. Yes there are cheaper versions but I don't think you will find quality at Panavise. You get what you pay for.
