Bought for my son and we tried it on his 2006 Honda Element (maybe earlier, I forgot) and doesn't work but on my 2014 Cruze it did works without problems. Turns out the aux port on the Honda has a deep center pin, and the center pin on this USB charger isn't long enough for a pin. Instead of changing it, I took out the center pin (it unscrews easily) and added a drop of solder, making the contact longer. This worked and is now communicating with Honda's auxiliary port.
