Review on πŸš— VGEBY Automatic Transmission Speed Sensor for Beetle Jetta - Output Shaft Speed Detection Made Easy by Marcus Rash

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm glad I didn't hear "30 years of Master Tech " and throw the car away.

Super low price, fast shipping! (arrived a day early) I work in a used car dealership with its own service department. (3 technicians, one service manager) About 2 weeks ago my car (a 2000 VW Jetta TDI sedan with only 289,000 miles) drove to work erratically. It ended up only going into "soft" mode with 3rd gear lockup unless I manually shifted the selector. Our "master technician" service manager scanned the OBD codes and said that a wrong translation code means my car burned out, throw it away and buy a new one. It was a $1 car. I scanned it and found a code for "Transmission Output Speed Sensor No Signal". Googled and found symptoms identical to mine. The sensor wire appears to go from the sensor to the ECM, which is routed under the battery. Hm. I thought my shop replaced my battery just 3 weeks ago because the case ruptured and the acid blew out from under the car and into our parking lot. Jay thought maybe the acid had eaten through the sensor wire under the battery compartment. Bought this part for literally 1/10th the price the local stores could order and had it installed. The acid did not harm the core, but it WAS nearly torn by the wrong gasket where it rubbed under the battery compartment. Problem solved. I'm glad it was relatively minor. Switches are like new.
