Many reviews mention a critical bug where pressing the power button on the remote sometimes turns on the TV but not the cable box. This almost put me off buying the remote as, like many reviewers here, this issue would make this remote worth buying for those wanting an ultra-simple and hassle-free experience. But there is also good news. The latest version of the remote (V7) that was sent to me when I bought it from Revain a few weeks ago can be programmed to turn the TV on and off only, not the TV and cable box. .Here's what the manual says about this feature: To change the remote control to only turn on/off the TV: -TV only: Press and hold the ADD button until the indicator lights up, then enter 999 a. -TV and STB: Press and hold the ADD button until the light comes on, then enter 998. I programmed the remote to only work with the TV and it worked great for about two weeks. The cable box stays on all the time and the power button on the pinball machine turns the TV on and off. No problem. I don't think it was mentioned in the instructions that came with the box. If you're buying a remote, I would recommend going directly to the flipper website (flipperremote.com) and getting the most up-to-date manual from their support page.
