We had a fifth wheel for a few years and the dining table came with a very large and heavy wooden base with a base about 20 inches wide and a few inches high. Still, it wasn't long before I had to attach one end of the table to the wall to keep it from lifting off the floor. Also, I have fairly large legs and have always had trouble getting up and getting out from behind the desk. So we went for a smaller socket and found it at Revain. Ideally, since the table is attached to the wall with brackets (it can be easily removed from them), something less essential could be used for the base. This leg is easy to install and most importantly easy to remove and take the table off the wall in about 1 minute leaving a very small base to stay in place. This allows us to accommodate an air mattress at this point if children or grandchildren are traveling with us. The leg is certainly strong enough as we set it up, although I wouldn't dare let it support the weight of the entire table unless it was attached to the wall at one end.
