Review on Brother DS 640 Compact Document Scanner by Luca Washington

I saw the bad reviews some of them horrible and bought this based on the overall rating. then waited in horror for his arrival. Upon opening the box, the first thought was that it's SMALL, like in a super compact. I first installed it on my 10 year old desktop Mac and it started up in less than 15 minutes. Then I installed it on my Windows laptop and it was up and running again in less than 15 minutes. I'm honestly in my 40s, not a techie, but I figured it out myself. With the scanning set to 'Text', 300 DPI and all the 'Auto Fix' features enabled, half of which I really don't know what they do, I can press the 'Start Scan' button and then just go with it start feeding sheet by sheet of paper. That's about 3-4 seconds per sheet, then you pull in the next one. Minor differences when working on Mac and Windows, but in both cases I got a multi-page PDF that I could run character recognition on with Adobe and then search. Why exactly? My customers give me stacks of documents to sort and I have to scan them and send them back. Clients used to bring me documents, or I would follow them and bring them to the office. I photocopied them all and filled them out file by file. Then I got a copier/scanner and we still had to fiddle with paper, but instead I scanned it. Currently? Making a home visit is easy. No third party phone apps, no photos or cropping. Set up, scan on site and drive off. Love it.
