In short: don't buy if you want to sell your buttons, for hobby, probably good

Ok I've had this button maker for about a week and here is my experience: People who have had success with this manufacturer say, that the manufacturer has only occasionally produced an inferior button. My experience is that most of my buttons are irregularly shaped and few are perfect. The problem was that the mylar didn't seal properly and only curled up halfway, leaving jagged edges (or didn't seal at all and just popped out of the button), while the paper curled perfectly. I checked the internet to see what I could be doing wrong. ; paper thickness, speed/force at which I used the machine, paper size; and tries to do things differently. The website said the gliding pin would help seal the Mylar film properly, so I bought it and used it as directed. No matter what I did, there was no difference in how my buttons turned out. Most of them came out deformed while only a few came out perfect and I had no idea why when conditions were the same. Then I decided to order separate consumables from another list and got metal backs. The use of these new consumables has changed the world. Most buttons still don't work perfectly, but there's a definite improvement. The plastic back covers that came with the button maker are the main culprit, other supplies that came with the maker are fine. The batch of consumables that I ordered separately came with a plastic washer to be used on the side where you insert the pen. return. It doesn't affect the quality of the metal rods, so I don't use it. I tried the plastic back of the pen but this resulted in the manufacturer squeezing the paper and mylar around the back of the pen AND the washer making it seem like the plastic pins are officially useless to my manufacturer. Other people seem to have had little trouble with this manufacturer, so the quality seems good.
