Amazing value for money, a must have for gamers.

This is a review of the $255 27-inch 144Hz Curved FreeSync black variant. to be as thorough as possible without giving potential clients too much reading time. I've been using it for a little over a week at the time of writing this review. I've read other user reviews and they seem to complain about things like weak speakers. It's a monitor, most don't have speakers at all. Users are expected to use their own desktop speakers or headphones, especially since this monitor is designed for gaming. The included headphone jack isn't impressive, but works well with most low-impedance headphones. It's a nice addition that Acer could easily have left out. however, slightly adjust the color r. The image temperature was set to the Warm preset, and even after setting the profile to Normal, the displayed image was still slightly warm. I have included the color correction settings used for my particular display in the images of this review. Keep in mind that every panel is different and my settings will likely be different than what you need for correct color reproduction. I haven't used a hardware calibrator, but having had many factory calibrated monitors I've gotten pretty good at judging them by eye. Regardless, this is a VA display and I wouldn't recommend doing color sensitive work on it. The speakers are really bad, but at least they're there just in case. The contrast is amazing. It easily beat LG's 49-inch IPS TV. Now I want to replace the TV because its contrast ratio is poor compared to this monitor. I hardly noticed any backlight bleeding except for a completely dark room and very dark scenes (black loading screens). , etc.) I've also included an image as an example of the degree of backlight bleeding. The picture was taken with a shutter speed of 1 second, an aperture of 1.8 and ISO 800 in a VERY dark room, so the backlight leakage effect is exaggerated. From my own experience, the effect is minimal and does no harm. Well, how For Due to the high refresh rate, the monitor comes with an HDMI 2.0 and a DP cable. It contains no drivers and requires no drivers. When connected to my RX 580, the display was automatically detected and configured correctly for 144Hz use. I had to reboot the entire computer for FreeSync to be recognized and activated, but I haven't encountered any other obstacles yet. (Don't forget to enable FreeSync in AMD Control Panel, go to each game's settings and adjust your monitor's refresh rate and max FPS!). As you would expect from a 144Hz panel, movement is smooth and fluid. The input lag is around 10-20ms with some homemade tools I've built, so it's well within the acceptable range. My calculations may be wrong, so excuse the inaccuracies in the readings. However, there was no input lag, which I felt hampered my experience. Pixel response time is as advertised; while motion blur is minimal and mostly not a problem. FreeSync runs in the 48-144 fps range, which I've limited all my games to using MSI Afterburner for system monitoring and Rivatuner for the OSD, capping the frame rate at 144 to stay in the FreeSync range. The OSD is average for monitors these days, but still way better than most in this price range. I found the control button a little tight and difficult to press, but once you've set up your monitor, your interaction with it should be minimal. By all accounts this is an amazing monitor and will likely be a real upgrade for a lot of people. I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't played 144hz games before. (Be careful, you get used to it very quickly, and then even 60 FPS looks bad). The ONLY issue I had is the display turning on and off intermittently when the computer is waking up from sleep or when it's on. I found a workaround: turn off the monitor completely when not in use, make sure AutoSource is disabled in the monitor settings, or press and hold the power button to turn it off and back on when on encounter problem. Finally, the aesthetic is very beautiful and elegant. It doesn't yell "GAMER!" at anyone who sees it, and that might be a positive thing for many users (it definitely was for me). Unfortunately, Acer has opted to use glossy plastic for the back of the monitor rather than a matte finish, which could be a disadvantage when the monitor isn't against a wall. The monitor stand is made of plastic with a metal base, making it quite sturdy and holding the weight well without the screen wobbling. Unfortunately, the stand only supports fore and aft tilting, with no support for panning, rotating, or left and right height adjustment. You can forgive that for the price. However, it includes VESA mount compatibility. The bezels are nice and thin, only about 8 millimeters pixel-to-edge, with a sleek chin and a chrome Acer logo. The power indicator is an unobtrusive blue LED in the lower right corner. The screen has a matte finish that prevents reflections and glare, but slightly affects color accuracy and brightness. In summary, this monitor is a very good choice for performance and features compared to the price. I'm actually considering buying two more of these as the curve is nice and the bezels are thin. The photos included in this review were taken on the LG V20 in manual mode with different settings to do justice to what they wanted to show. The general plan of the table should give an idea of the size it will occupy in the table. Second, to represent color and contrast. The third and fourth images are references to other parts of the review. All pictures were taken on the monitor at 50% brightness in a fairly dark room, unless stated that it was completely dark (backlit example). I sincerely hope this review was helpful, and happy playing!
