Review on Snow Lutron Maestro LED+ Motion Sensor Dimmer Switch - No Neutral Required MSCL-OP153M-SW by Joel Mosqueda

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I love these! Super convenient user configurable features.

Re: MSCL-OP153M sensor/dimmer. The VP153M version is vacancy/manual on only, no ability to set a dimmed default on level.Though multi location capable, I bought this to replace a single location switch in my kitchen, saves me from having to go the far end entry to turn the most frequently used 60watt equivalent LED light on/off. At 5 min timeout, it shuts off the light if I wander away, on again when I walk back in. Can be programmed to a default or last used brightness level, super convenient.A really nice feature is that it dims out over several seconds rather than instant darkness, gives me a chance to wave an arm if I’ve been standing still too long. It looks like a rocker switch but it’s a momentary tap switch, press anywhere on the pad. It’s basically a tiny computer with memory for configurable settings such as duration and choice of user set default or last used intensity. Single tap = delayed off, double tap = instant full brightness. and overall cannot be beat on the convenience factor! It works so well that I replaced the manual switches on a sunlight bright two way 500watt equivalent LED lighting circuit in the same kitchen with another of these and a companion dimmer which allows on/off and dimming from either end of the kitchen. Since I don’t often need this much light and have full control at both ends, I have it set to vacancy mode manual on/auto off, 15 minute vacancy timeout, if these bright lights are on, I’m in there working , leaving it on longer than the 60w helps call me back to task if distracted.

Pros
  • Switches & Dimmers
Cons
  • May be more expensive than other dimmer switches
