If you don't think your kid really wants to skateboard then I would say buy this board. This is a decent board for a kid who wants to get an idea of how to skateboard. However, the griptape feels cheap, the board feels cheap, the trucks don't seem to do anything when you tighten them. It's hard to keep your balance on this board, let alone a beginner. Maybe it throws them in at the deep end, teaches them to balance quickly. Either way, this is a decent board for a kid who wants to learn to skateboard. Not recommended for young people who are serious about learning to skateboard. They should open CCS Magazine and get their board from there.
