Review on 🌬️ Silent Cooling Power: Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU Cooler with 250W TDP, BK022 by Wayde Lash

So first, I'm leaving a review for BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 and BeQuiet Silent Wings 3 at the same time so you can see the context of my review. I want to start by saying I'm an audio engineer and a person with a hearing that most just don't have. I have a mini-decibel difference (10 decibels), I'm an audio engineer, I understand brain psychology, and I've been building computers for a while. I've tried more fans you can think of but actually listened to them instead of just using them. Here's what I can tell you about Dark Rock Pro 4 and BeQuiet Silent Wings: , and above the normal human hearing range. We can hear from 20Hz to 20,000Hz but not everyone, some hear from 45Hz and only hear up to 14,000Hz. Hearing is very important but how the brain works is even more important in this test. The BeQuiet fans in Dark Rock Pro 4 are Silent Wing 3 fans with 135mm fan options exclusive to BeQuiet coolers. These motors/bearings in the fan generate frequencies around 6 Hz and over 19,000 Hz. Why is it important? Well, 5Hz is the frequency of the brain, if the sound produced is near that frequency, it affects the brain and can actually make a person very angry (without knowing it) or cause them physical or mental pain. Frequencies above 17 Hz are very damaging to the eardrum, they will hurt your ears and you will feel a dull ache in the eardrum. This is because the follicles in the eardrum are damaged and the pain is due to the hair follicles dying off. The hair follicles in our ears act like nerves that transmit sound vibrations as perceived sound, which is transmitted directly to the brain and then decoded into a series of known memories in our brain database. The problem with high frequencies is that they damage the ears, eventually leading to deafness and destroying the ear canal follicles in the process. Here's the key question, frequencies above 17 kHz are very rarely heard by the human ear, at 18000 Hz to 19000 kHz the danger zone really starts, you don't hear these frequencies (most people) but you kill your hearing but your brain is exposed the sound and after a while the time goes crazy. Exposing a person to 19,000-20,000 kHz is crazy, as is generating 5-8 Hz, this range is also very dangerous. I've studied the science behind it, so I get it, but I'm not paranoid about it. After sitting next to 3 Silent Wings 3 fans for 2 hours, I started getting angry and couldn't believe it at first. I started hearing my fridge more, I suddenly started hearing air conditioners around my house (which I never realized), and these noises started hurting my brain and ears. malfunctions. Something I realized was that the frequency of the fans sharpened the perception of noise around, but NOT for the better. I singled out the problem for three fans first. I removed them and my ear pain and irritation went down by about 80%. I sent the fans back to Revain but after sitting at the computer for 4-5 hours I encountered the same problem. My mood is very stable and doesn't fluctuate up and down by the way. I found that the fans in Dark Rock Pro 4 cause the same problem but to a lesser extent. Due to the fact that they have fewer turns and the frequency is the same, only to a lesser extent. After removing the cooler, I realized that it's not the volume of the fans that matters, but the frequency they emit. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend staying away from these fans for health reasons. Of course, if you believe me, I won't hear about it, but I want to warn people. I don't blame BeQuiet either as I'm pretty sure they don't know about it, but you may see this email and make a correction because I care about people in this situation. I will also send them a separate email. Other reasons for return: I am returning Dark Rock Pro 4 for several reasons, this is the main issue. The second problem is that the cooling is very unstable. This part is now more trivial. It can't compete with the Corsair H105 I've had and the pace jumps up and down for me. Tighten the screws on the CPU a little less until you have enough pressure. Otherwise the thermal paste will penetrate everywhere and thin out too much where there is more physical contact with the cooler, but thermal paste is out of the question now. I would stay away from this cooler primarily because of the fans and you can't swap the fans for anything else. It uses a mounting mechanism specific to the BeQuiet cooler. I would generally stay away from it due to frequency issues and unstable cooling performance. The fins are too close together and the fans can't push enough air through the fins to cool them. The fan speed is too low and you cannot replace fans with non-branded ones like Noctua. The cooler also scratches at the slightest touch of the brackets, the paint peels off easily. You'll probably get angry after a while. The ribs also bend so easily, they're insanely brittle and the black paint just peels off the ribs and brackets. The quality is poor in my opinion but I've seen some success with a HIGHLY vented case but you have to be realistic. too much of. I have a Cooler Master Geminii S524 cooler with only 4 heatpipes and Dark Rock Pro 4 has 14 (7 on each side), my old Cooler Master has a downward fan and never gets above 72 degrees Celsius on full Noctua's fan profile with Dark Rock Pro 4 I've seen 68-70 RPM at full load. What? By the way, the Geminii S524 cost $35. Good technique versus not so good. BUT. I give the cooler 3 stars because it's not junk, it's poorly designed and not optimized for overclocking stability. I am running an Intel i7 4790k at 4.8GHz but you are telling me that Geminii with 4 heatpipes handles the CPU just as well but with only 1 Noctua fan compared to the BeQuiet 2 fans? Results may vary but I know what I'm talking about and I have to say if you're looking for great performance you might want to go with AIO liquid cooling or Noctua's high-end air coolers. I hope that explains everything, even when it comes to cooling. The cooler is brittle, the fins, the paint, and the installation is kinda tricky when you have the motherboard out of the case but when it's mounted in the case. Oh my God.
