Can't tell wood from metal = NOT GOOD

I don't like writing bad reviews but this thing is a dog with fleas. I went through the instructions and used them for their intended purpose. Mount the sensor on metal. I was looking for the main water shut off valve in the house we bought 2 years ago. The genius who finished the basement sealed the valve with drywall, which means he needed this device. I knew the approximate location of the valve. So I decided to buy this detector to determine where the pipe and valve are. Unfortunately, this device doesn't know the difference between wood and metal, cuts the wood down the sides, cuts a hole big enough to fit my hand through, and finally finds a valve remote from where the this device has detected metal. I have carefully inspected the wood and there are no nails, screws, staples or anything metallic on, behind or in front of the tree. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this device. I now have a 14x14 area to fix something that was 6x6.
