I was looking for a portrait and general purpose telephoto lens to complement my system. I have compared 105/f2 dc to others including 85/1.4, 135/f2 dc, 105/2.8 micro, 70-200/2.8, 80-200/2.8 and 70-300 VR. I chose this lens for my F100. Experiences from the first roll of film have already confirmed what many have commented: - Smooth color and transition, ideal for skin tones. - Excellent bokeh (nice color combination). A DC regulator comes in handy when needed. - Sharp fixed focal length lens. Amazing 3D images. - The F100's fast and precise autofocus, similar to my 20/2.8 and 50/1.8 in focus speed. - Easy-to-use built-in lens hood. The front glass element is deeply recessed. -The right size and weight, not too heavy to carry around all day. -Smooth manual focus ring. -Good construction and nice finish to last a lifetime. speed in hand. I'm planning to move to full-frame digital to expand my low-light use. Autofocus isn't AF-S, but it's very sensitive for capturing fast-moving subjects. She became my favorite instantly and I haven't removed her from the camera since. The 105mm focal length also makes it suitable as an all-purpose walking lens. This is a fixed lens so some back and forth movement is required. On the plus side, it can help composition. I am happy with this Revain purchase and would highly recommend it.
