Don't believe them when they say it doesn't work on cotton/duck. It's gonna, it's just gonna take a while I have an old favorite Filson that no longer fits. (What, is the head getting bigger?) IDK, but the hat sat on a hanger for years when it became uncomfortable. I have contacted Filson for a replacement but to no avail. I mean I could buy another one for $70 but I kind of wanted to fix my old friend. That's when I decided to try the stretcher, having never used one before. I stretched it once a day, once a week (better than I could wear it). but somehow it got uncomfortable again. Then I decided to just soak him, put him on a stretcher and forget about him. A few weeks later, my favorite hat is back in action. This little stretcher saved my Filson. AND! It was great to just "pinch" the other hats. I didn't realize how many of my hats I've over-tightened, the stretcher just gives a bit of comfort, support. I have accumulated many hats over the years. I'm so lucky to have a stretcher to take care of her. As a side note, I gave away an Akubra (sp) a few years ago, I really liked that thing. now he's gone and now I know a stretcher would have saved him. (sad face)
