I was skeptical at first that they have built in resistors but after installing and using it I could be sure because there was no Hyperflash. However, in my taillight housings they were very bright and glaring, although I might have had to smoke them out to reduce glare/reflections for other drivers. Even if I smoked them, they would still be a lot brighter than regular halogens in my opinion. Aside from being brighter, LED response times and longevity are superior to halogens, which I care about more than just brightness. All that matters is bright enough, but if you're a useless driver on the road, what good are signals? The specific reason I chose these lights and not others is that it ends up having a projector lens to focus the light straight ahead rather than spraying it all over the place if it were placed in reflector housings. However, this is defeated by the extra LEDs on the sides. I still preferred them to other models on the market that didn't have this style of projector and were also ridiculously expensive with built in resistors. In fact, the last pair I could find were double the price and didn't even have a head projector lens. I have these in both the front and rear turn signals.
