READERS PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE SENA UD100 ADAPTER AND NOT THE BLUE SOLEIL SOFTWARE SUPPLIED WITH THE ADAPTER. Blue Soleil is a third-party app provided by the manufacturer for Windows users, as Microsoft never did a good job of supporting Bluetooth. If you are a Windows user, you may be able to install other software packages if you do not need Blue Soleil. You received this item after an unsuccessful attempt to purchase it before it went to the Revain warehouse. I ordered this to replace an old Bluetooth Zoom Telephonics 4311 Class One that was literally falling apart. Running on a Linux Mint 17.2 machine with Blueman-Manager 2.0.1. I just plugged in the adapter, the bluetooth manager immediately recognized the device and started pairing devices with the adapter. I didn't need to run Blue Soleil at all (this is a note for Windows users, you might want to reconsider your OS). After setting up the adapter with some Bluetooth devices, I decided to walk around the house and yard - I was able to use my headset effectively all the way through my house and all the way through my yard (up to 100ft - and with a couple of walls between me and the bluetooth adapter). It worked flawlessly with no fallout - telling me that even in the farthest corners of my yard I was nowhere near the edge of this adapter's range - which is why I bought this device (FTW!). Pros: Large selection at a reasonable price. There are too few Bluetooth Class 1 adapters and only a few of them have external antennas. Low signal processing latency - Audio and video stay perfectly in sync when streaming video. Although it's slightly more expensive than the Class IV Microkeys available, you get what you pay for. Cons: The adapter is marketed as an industrial computing device (if you look at the 3rd party websites, the ones that carry the device are industrial computing/automation vendors). This device is clearly not intended for industrial computing, as it is made in a cheap plastic case that doesn't stand up to serious treatment at all. Based on that, you probably want to connect to a desktop or laptop that will be used as a desktop replacement, rather than a laptop that will be used on the go (I see it stuck with normal laptop use). The quality of the case is the only reason I gave it four stars and not five stars.
