Review on DEPSTECH Waterproof Inspection Megapixels Smartphone by Daniel Steele

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The best endoscope/borescope I have ever used with my phone.

This is mine third endoscope. To date this is the best. It has sufficient rigidity for most jobs. With my other devices, I generally had to attach a stiff wire along the length of the cable to maintain rigidity. Connecting to Wi-Fi is a bit fiddly, and if the device turns off, you'll have to reconnect to Wi-Fi. But there are benefits that I think are worth it. First, my son and I were able to connect at the same time. He held the endoscope out to me and I watched him move. I could see what was missing when he focused on the movement mechanics. I also see where it would be handy if you wanted to stay in control. For example, install it in a pipe and then turn on the water. Or you can put it in the slot and use your phone to watch rodents. As someone else pointed out, the battery only lasts a few minutes on a full light. But there are a few compensating factors. First, you probably won't turn the light on at full power, even if you're measuring in total darkness. Full brightness tends to wash out details. Second, you can connect any external battery you would use for a cell phone. Or you can even connect it to a wall charger. The device works as long as it receives external power supply. Tools come in a small case. It is very sweet. It is also good that they are firmly screwed and not snapped into place. I lost my tools because they broke off in the sewers. The tools are not perfect. They're all plastic. I'm used to long and thin metal hooks. This is shorter than the focal length; I want it to be at least as long as the focal length. It's also made of plastic and feels thin. I like to leave the hook attached by default. I have found that in many cases this helps guide the scale and provide a frame of reference. The instructions say to change the resolution. I ignored it at first, but when I matched the scope's resolution to my phone, the image quality and apparent depth of field improved dramatically.
