Review on Walker Products Engine Coolant Temperature Sender 214-1004 by Bob Schultz

Faulty sensor - didn't last 2 weeks

This sensor was installed less than 2 weeks ago in a 6.2 liter CUCV (Chevrolet K30 military truck ) Installed ). And today the "idiotic" engine temp light came on. I just recently installed a real temp gauge so I could see the engine temp was fine, around 180-190 (the thermostat is 180 on the engine). But I checked the radiator anyway, and even though we drove the truck into the shop, it was still cool enough for me to remove the top (covered with a thick rag, just in case), and there was no steaming or boiling. Nothing. The engine temperature was normal. We drove on and drove the truck home with no problems. Before I leave town I bought a new replacement sensor that I will install in place of this sensor.

Pros
  • Computer uses information and other inputs to calculate correct amount of fuel to deliver
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
