Yes, this insulating "blanket" doesn't let the heat in so easily. But what nobody's talking about is that it still lets heat through, and once it's set it stays soaked much, much longer than if you had a naked starter refrigerated in the open air. I went from a 15 minute glitch before a takeoff was possible to over two hours. Now this kept the starter from overheating on short city trips, but as soon as the hot weather set in I pulled onto the city freeway and bam. I was dead in the water I removed this and replaced it with the correct heat shield.
