Canon L 35 / 1.4 is also much weaker resolution, strong vignetting, you need an autofocus adapter, 1.60% distortion. Overpriced optics from the 90s. Sony has a similar optically high-quality lens 85 / 1.8 FE. He also eliminated distortion up to 0.34% and made a resolution of 70 lines / mm. These are one of the best Sony lenses 35/1.8 FE and 85/1.8 FE are definitely recommended for purchase. There are no such distortion indicators on many expensive G-series lenses, and even more so on the Sony 24-70 2.8G and Tamron 28-75 2.8 zooms. Tamron has only 35mm distortion of 0.59%, which is very good, but at a smaller focal length and a larger one it reaches 2%. If you shake the turned off camera, inside the lens you can hear the movement of the lens block with motors, this is the correct operation of the lens. When you turn on the camera, the electricity on the stepper motors fixes the lens block and there is no sound anymore. The same on the new G-series lenses for example 24 / 2.8G. The lens has become the most beloved with the Sony 85 / 1.8 FE, I don’t want to take it off the camera. The colors are bright and the pattern is very nice. There was a Zeiss 55 / 1.8 lens, there is 1.5% distortion and the angle is narrow for everyday shooting. 35 / 1.8 and optically better in terms of geometry distortion and the angle is more universal. And for beautiful portraits, 55 / 1.8 did not reach my 85 / 1.8 FE and was sold.
