Review on 🕵️ Elitech IR-200 HVAC Refrigerant Leak Detector - Advanced Halogen Leakage Tester, AC Sniffer with Infrared & Heated Diode Technology by Reginald Ward

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Solid IR and HD detector plus accessories

I don't have any leaks to test this thing in action at the moment so let's talk about the possibilities. The combination of an IR and a heated diode in one device is great and should make this tool usable for years to come. A high setting of 4g/year should be great for finding those pesky "once in the summer" service calls that turn out to be a poor shredder. It includes 5 extra tip filters and a spare probe. It also has a probe light clip that doubles as a flashlight and UV light for illuminating fluorescent dyes in hard-to-reach areas. I love that it uses removable 18650 Li-Ion batteries which are readily available and can be charged using standard USB-C. Although it includes a wall charger, it can be charged from any USB port, including any USB charging port in the car, so you're really never going to die in the water with this thing. Oh, and it all comes in good quality, dense foam. a thick plastic body that doesn't feel cheap at all. It may seem silly, but a quality tool case is important to me, which means a lot of work in a truck full of heavy junk. I have some R152a (aka an aerosol can) laying around. I fired at the box for half a second and closed it, then left it for a few minutes and crawled onto it with the probe. As expected, I got a recognition. I am very happy with this detector so far, lots of great features, easy to use with a bright clear display and a sturdy case to keep safe.

Pros

Cons
  • No power
