Two of these failed in just under three years, only a few months apart. Everyone had battery corrosion on the same connector. They had original Kidde batteries. Once the low battery alarm started beeping, I found the problem. Replacing the batteries in each device did not help. They kept chirping. I think the corrosion just prevented the terminals from continuing to function. The blocks had to be replaced. I think it's a safety issue as well as unnecessary expense. June 2018 Update - The third failed with the same issues. October 2018 Update - The fourth failed with the same issue.
