Review on Klipsch R 41PM Powered Bookshelf Speaker by Michelle Linares

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Mediocre sound, Bluetooth issues, and they don't even show up on Klipsch's own support site.

I found them to sound tight without much depth or bass. The stereo field was nothing special. Without punch and body, very flat and two-dimensional. Maybe they are suitable for a small room, sit on a table if you use them as a near field. I use them in a 12x16 living room and they can't handle the situation. They sound okay, but nothing more. They're severely lacking in bass, which isn't uncommon for a speaker of this size. However, they are very anemic and the highs and mids aren't amazing enough to make me feel like investing in a subwoofer (which I assumed). A cheap Samsung soundbar that I wanted to replace with these sounds. much better, for $100. My PreSonus Eris 3.5 monitors have more depth and power, again for $100. Bluetooth on them is not very good. I'm having trouble selecting and playing songs. When a playlist comes up and I select a song, it doesn't play. I have to expand a single song on the screen and then press the big play button and only then will the song play. This doesn't happen with any other Bluetooth speaker or system I have, including the aforementioned Samsung soundbar, my Bose Bluetooth speaker, my Sony BT speakers, my little Anker Oontz, or any of my cars that have Bluetooth . Only these Klipschs show this behavior. So I decided to update the firmware. I went to "support.klipsch.com" and to my surprise they weren't even there! Okay, I just type the model number into the search - nothing. Okay so I went to the product page where there is a useful "support" link. Except that this link just takes you back to the support home page. Your support page does not contain any information about this product (R-41pm). Klipsch hasn't even bothered to post support for them, other than a horrible guide that's mostly a couple of obvious diagrams and one-sentence descriptions of a few things. The IKEA instructions are more helpful. Weak audio, BT issues and no published support mean they're making a comeback.
